Hey, thanks for visiting my blog! I decided to start blogging to help sort out my whirlwind of thoughts–that serves as fair warning for my randomness. I’m interested in a lot of different things: family, new recipes, traveling, religion, politics, gardening, quotes, home food production (canning and I’m dying to try making cheese!), history, genealogy, and great literature. If you’re here looking for anything “pop-culture”-ish, you won’t find that here–that’s one area I’m really not into so please talk about Brad Pitt’s hair on someone else’s blog.
My name is Nicole. My husband, Sven, and I will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary this December (2008). We have 5-year-old twins, Robbie and Kara. (Yes, that is a boy and a girl–No, they’re not identical; it’s not possible to be different genders and be identical…) We did lots of infertility treatments to get them here (ICSI with assisted hatching finally worked), so I can sympathize with people going through that challenge.
I keep busy as a stay home mom, but I was a project manager & business analyst at a software company for 7 years before I left to take care of my kiddos. With kids starting kindergarten this fall, I’m trying to explore employment options that would let me keep my family as my #1 priority. (I’m allergic to MLM opportunities so don’t even THINK about inviting me to yours!) For work, my strength is organizing; my weakness is diplomacy, but I’m working on it! Ideally, I’d do something that allows me to be on the same schedule as my kids’ school calendar so we can actually spend some time together as a family.
Maybe I’ll talk more about me and some of my life-shaping experiences on other pages, but that’s probably enough to get us started.
